6/14/2006, #94, 2nd Quarter 2006

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

Lord, our true freedom comes from you and not from the entanglements of the world, the flesh, or the devil.

Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. (Galatians 5:2)

Jesus, thank you for giving me a circumcised heart by the work of your Holy Spirit. As you did on the day of Pentecost, please do now by moving the hearts of those assembled at the General Convention.

And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. (Galatians 5:3)

Holy Spirit, please help the church return to Jesus from the works of the flesh.

You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. (Galatians 5:4)

Father, help us place our confidence in your son Jesus rather than in the works of the flesh or the works of the law.

For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. (Galatians 5:5)

Holy Spirit, sustain those faithful bishops and deputies to the General Convention as they wait in hope for your righteousness by faith.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. (Galatians 5:6)

Dear Jesus, please sustain your faithful people at the General Convention with faith working through love.

You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? (Galatians 5:7)

Holy Spirit, please help the Episcopal Church abandon those leaders who hinder it from obeying the truth; help us once again to run the race for the eternal prize that never fades away.

This persuasion does not come from him who calls you. (Galatians 5:8)

Jesus, please help those at the General Convention recognize for what they are the false teachings with which they have been persuaded. Help them to make the choice for you.

A little leaven leavens the whole lump. (Galatians 5:9)

False teaching has permeated the most of the Episcopal Church; Holy Spirit, please help us return to your good teaching and guidance.

I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. (Galatians 5:10)

Lord, we ask you to deal with those who promote false teaching in the Episcopal Church: please either bring them to conversion or get them out of office.

And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. (Galatians 5:11)

Jesus, please bring the Episcopal Church back to your cross; help it repent of works of the flesh. It is for freedom you have set us free, not to be in bondage to license.

I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! (Galatians 5:12)

Jesus, please deal with those who trouble the church by promoting the works of the flesh.

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. (Galatians 5:13)

Father, help us hear this admonition: please restore the hearing of your word to the Episcopal Church.

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Galatians 5:14)

Father, help us return to that true love of our neighbor and of ourselves that does not give way to license.

But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! (Galatians 5:15)

Holy Spirit, thank you for the peace and freedom you gave us at our Diocesan Convention; please give your faithful ones at the General Convention that same peace and freedom. Thank you.

Dear Torre, Jean & Everyone Who Has Been Holding Me Up In Prayer,
Thank you so much for all the prayers. I can't begin to tell you how much it means to me knowing that so many of you are keeping me and my family as well as our Diocese in prayer. The Joint Consecration Committee Meeting met this morning and voted to recommend me for approval to both the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops. I don't know when each House will take action on this, so please keep the prayers coming. Peace my Friends!!
Yours in Christ,
Bill+

My Marianne was not able to go to convention because of her slow recovery from foot surgery. She is healing but slowly. She has had much swelling, two pin site infections and extreme tarsel tunnel pain. I had to do the child sex abuse prevention training sessions alone. They went very, very well - with great participant response and evaluations. I think the program we do is a practical approach to make our parishes very unattractive to predators. I also think Marianne is a very good presenter and I miss doing the sessions with her.

Thank you and God bless, M+
