Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! For his mercy endures forever. (Psalm 107:1)
Thank you, Father, that while we were yet sinners, lost and without hope, you sent your son Jesus to die for us so that we might live. Your mercy endures forever! Please help us share this hope with others.
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, (Psalm 107:2)
Jesus, your death on the cross was the price for our redemption; thank you for rescuing us from the hand of the enemy. We cry out to you for all those in the Episcopal Church who are ashamed of you and your cross, pour out your Holy Spirit into them and bring them back to you.
And gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. (Psalm 107:3)
Thank you for gathering us into your sheepfold and for loving us, Jesus.
They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; they found no city to dwell in. (Psalm 107:4)
Holy Spirit, the Episcopal Church is wandering in the wilderness in a desolate place, guide us back to Jesus and the Father's love for us.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. (Psalm 107:5)
Jesus, help us feed your hungry people with your word and give them drink of living water.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. (Psalm 107:6)
LORD, we cry out to you for your church and your people, deliver us out of our distresses.
And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city for a dwelling place. (Psalm 107:7)
Jesus, lead us forth out of the bondage of sin in the Episcopal Church by your right way. Please make a dwelling place for your faithful people.
Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! (Psalm 107:8)
Help us give thanks to you, Holy Father; thank you for your goodness and your wonderful works.
For he satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. (Psalm 107:9)
Jesus, we are so hungry and thirsty for you, bring your new life to the Episcopal Church once again -- satisfy our souls with your goodness. Lord, we have looked for satisfaction in all the wrong places -- have mercy on us.
Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons-- (Psalm 107:10)
Jesus, we cry out to you for all those in parishes and dioceses where there is great darkness and bondage -- bring them into your light and freedom, set them free from their affliction.
Because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High, (Psalm 107:11)
LORD, we have rebelled against you and despised your word; have mercy on us and bring us back to you.
Therefore he brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help. (Psalm 107:12)
LORD, the General Convention engaged in much hard labor and produced only resolutions and not changed hearts. We have fallen as a church and no one else can help us but you.
LORD, we cry out to you in our trouble, save us out of our distresses; bring us out of darkness and the shadow of death, break our chains in pieces, help us give thanks to you for your goodness and for your wonderful works to us! Break the gates of bronze and the bars of iron in two. As you led Peter out of prison, lead us out too. Thank you for the prayers of your faithful people then and now. (From Psalm 107:13-16)
***** Fr. Hio is feeling better and hopes they will send him home tomorrow. Keep Akemi in prayer. He said Bp. Dan was quite sick with the flu that he got at General Convention. Pray for complete and speedy healing for Bp. Dan.
***** Continue praying for healing for Fr. Joe Caron's wife, Nancy; she is home from St. Peter's after surgery and is waiting for biopsy results. Pray for good news.
