"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. (John 14:1)
Jesus, as I look at the Episcopal Church my heart is troubled; help me look at you instead. I believe in God and I believe in you, please help me lay the burden of the Episcopal Church at your feet.
In my father's house are many dwellings; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14:2)
I know that you are with us and I know there have been times of crisis in your church before; please guide us so that we come at last to that dwelling place you have prepared for us, Jesus.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also. (John 14:3)
Lord, we long to be with you; please come soon.
And where I go you know, and the way you know." (John 14:4)
Father, we know the way because we know Jesus; please help us make him known to others.
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?" (John 14:5)
Holy Spirit, the Episcopal Church is filled with "Thomases" who have no clue where you have gone or the way to get there themselves; please help us be faithful witnesses in pointing the way to Jesus.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
Jesus, write this truth on the hearts of the leaders of the Episcopal Church.
"If you had known me, you would have known my father also; and from now on you know him and have seen him." (John 14:7)
Father in heaven, please make your son known to the clergy and laity of the Episcopal Church so that they can know you and your love for them.
Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, (1 Peter 2:1)
LORD God, please help us lay these aside; have mercy on us and help us repent of these evils.
as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby up to salvation, (1 Peter 2:2)
Holy Spirit, restore "the pure milk of the word" to the Episcopal Church so that it may grow and not die.
if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. (1 Peter 2:3)
Jesus, please help your people taste and see that you are good. (Psalm 34:8)
Coming to him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, (1 Peter 2:4)
Father, please help us all in the Episcopal Church come to Jesus and build only on him.
you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:5)
Holy Spirit, please help us all be living stones who take our proper place in the building up of the church and the people of God. Thank you.
