"But after they had rest, they again did evil before you. Therefore you left them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had dominion over them; yet when they returned and cried out to you, you heard from heaven; and many times you delivered them according to your mercies, and testified against them, that you might bring them back to your law. Yet they acted proudly, and did not heed your commandments, but sinned against your judgments, 'Which if a man does, he shall live by them.' And they shrugged their shoulders, stiffened their necks, and would not hear." (Nehemiah 9:28-29)
LORD, the Episcopal Church has acted proudly and has not heeded your commandments. We have sinned against your judgments and urged others to do the same. Please help us return to you and live.
Tuesday: 61, 62, Nehemiah 12:27-31a, 42b-47, Revelation 11:1-19, Matthew 13:44-52
Wednesday: 72, Nehemiah 13:4-22, Revelation 12:1-12, Matthew 13:53-58
A word received: My church is like the city of Jerusalem after it was destroyed. My people would not follow Me so I scattered them. Return to Me , heed the words of the past , that I have said before. When you return to Me and repent you shall be restored. I long for you to return to Me. I long for you to repent. I long for you to be restored. Come Back. Come back to Me and repent.
A word received: You are in my care. Look to me for this day's strength.
A word received: Forgiveness is a choice I want you to make and model for others.

Subject: Prayer for the Welcome Home Initiative
Please ask our prayer warriors to continue to lift up ongoing plans to minister to returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans through the Welcome Home Initiative at Christ the King Center.
Specific requests for the Welcome Home Initiative include prayer for
* the firming up of plans to minister this December to a small group of the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division Chaplains returning in November from deployment in Iraq,
* fruition in ongoing discussions for a larger retreat program for newly returned soldiers and their families in 2008/2009
* wisdom and discernment in the development of a training program incorporating the necessary professional expertise and skills which the WHI ministry teams will need to pray with men and women with deep combat trauma.
Pray also for the stateside Chaplain of the US Army 10th Mountain Division who is presently ministering pastorally to incoming flights of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team returning from Iraq this month, and for the men and women of that team arriving home in time for the holidays.
Pray for NY National Guard soldiers who have been activated for duty and training in January and expect to be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in the spring.
Pray specifically for the sergeant who was recently welcomed on weekend leave to Christ the King whose deployment with her husband in the spring will leave behind a teen daughter in extended family care. Pray for the sacrifices that military families make when loved ones are deployed.
And when you see one of our veterans this week, thank them for the sacrifices they and their families have made for us, and offer a prayer that they find continued healing and peace in Christ.
