To the Albany Intercessors:
As we remember our veterans this Memorial Day, say a prayer for the men and women you know who have served their country in armed combat. Many suffer visible and invisible wounds and a level of trauma which you and I were spared because they stepped forward into harm’s way our behalf. Pray that Jesus will intervene in memories of hyper-vigilance, intense danger and the death of comrades on the field. Pray that Christ will heal wounded hearts, minds, bodies and souls.
Remember, too, military families who fight a quiet battle on the home front, bearing with the long absence of deployment only to find that the internal scars of combat have rendered loved ones changed in fundamental ways. Pray for protection for these families as their soldier-warriors re-integrate back into home and community life.
And join the team at the Oratory of Christ the Healer in praying for our next Welcome Home Initiative retreat, July 28-30, 2008. We again seek a few good Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines (and their "at home support team") who have seen combat in any war -- for the building up of a community of Christian warriors and their families who share the common goal of healing the wounds of war through Jesus’ name.
Prayerfully consider supporting the veterans who participate in this upcoming healing retreat by welcoming them home in the WHI Closing Ceremony on Wednesday, July 30, gathering at 11:30 a.m. in CtK Center’s Great Hall.
