8/23/2008, #53, 3rd Quarter 2008
Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord." (Acts 9:10)
Holy Spirit, please help all of us in this diocese to be disciples who respond to your call as Ananias did.
So the Lord said to him, "Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying. (Acts 9:11)
Jesus, help us, as you did Ananias, to clearly hear your directions.
And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight." (Acts 9:12)
Jesus, we pray for your people today that they will be guided by your words and that you will give visions and words of knowledge and wisdom to them.
Then Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name." (Acts 9:13-14)
Father, we respond to the leaders and teachers of the Episcopal Church as Ananias did to Saul and the chief priests. Give us your mind about the leaders and teachers of the Episcopal Church. Help us by your Holy Spirit to discern the true from the false.
But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of mine to bear my name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel." (Acts 9:15)
Jesus, please help us go to everyone you send us to.
"For I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name's sake." (Acts 9:16)
Father, help us bear the cross of Jesus in our day.
And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." (Acts 9:17)
Jesus, please help us as you did Ananias to be able to see in others the brothers and sisters you have given us.
Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. (Acts 9:18 )
Father, we pray for those receiving prayer that they will receive their sight.

I ( Mother Anne Curtin) will be leading it on September 11, 2008 at the Christ the King Spiritual Life Center (SLC) in Greenwich NY from 10 Am to 3:30 PM. The cost is $25 which includes lunch.
