9/4/2008, #62, 3rd Quarter 2008
Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. (Acts 13:1)
Holy Spirit, please raise up prophets and teachers throughout the church that is the Diocese of Albany.
As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate to me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." (Acts 13:2)
Holy Spirit, please guide the Commission on Ministry, the Standing Committee, the Bishop, and all your people so that we will clearly hear your call and recognize those you have set aside for ministry (both lay and ordained). Help us to minister to Jesus by our worship and praise as the church at Antioch did.
Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away. (Acts 13:3)
Father, guide us into fasting and prayer before we lay hands on people to commission them for ministry.
A word received: Cry out to me for my people. Cry out to me for healing and deliverance. Cry out to me for new life in my church. Cry out to me with hope and expectation.
Thursday: 37:19-42; Job 16:16-22,17:1,13-16; Acts 13:1-12; John 9:1-17
Friday: 35; Job 19:1-7,14-27; Acts 13:13-25; John 9:18-41
