10/18/2008, #17, 4th Quarter 2008
Then a dispute arose among them as to which of them would be greatest. (Luke 9:46)
Lord Jesus, we have such disputes among us in the church today; have mercy on us.
And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by him, (Luke 9:47)
Holy Spirit, please help us learn the lesson Jesus is trying to teach us here.
and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all will be great." (Luke 9:48 )
Father, please help us receive with joy every child you send our way. Open the hearts of our parishes to receive children into their midst. Raise up Sunday School and youth programs to nourish them. Bond the youth you send us into the body of your son Jesus. Thank you.
A word received: Don't be afraid -- keep your eyes on me. I will lead you and guide you. You are in my care. That is sufficient for every need.
A word received: I raised up Saul. I raised up David. I will raise up who I want to, to lead this country. Pray for my choice to be raised up.
