4/16/2009, #16, 2nd Quarter 2009

"These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full." (John 15:11)
Jesus, please help us enter into the joy you have prepared for us.

"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." (John 15:12)
Jesus, help us love one another throughout this diocese. Please help us lay aside old rancor and bitterness. Help us see beyond ideology and know the love you have for those we disagree with.

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." (John 15:13)
Holy Spirit, help us show forth this love at the Diocesan Convention.

"You are my friends if you do whatever I command you." (John 15:14)
Father, please help us to do all that Jesus commands us to do.

"No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from my father I have made known to you." (John 15:15)
Father, no matter what the national church does, help us in this diocese walk by the light you have given us in your son Jesus.

"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you." (John 15:16)
Holy Spirit, please help us show forth your fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Help us have the mind of Jesus when we pray to the Father so that we enter fully into his will.

"These things I command you, that you love one another." (John 15:17)
Lord, we have so often messed up on the first ten commandments, don't let us fail on this as well. Help us daily embrace your cross, Jesus. Thank you.

A word received: Pray for my people to listen to me. Pray for them to read the Bible with understanding that leads to repentance. Pray for my word to be grafted into their hearts. Pray for hope based on my word.

Subject: New Mudge Prayer
Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. (Psalm 105:1-4)
Lord, we worship You mightily this Easter week, this week of remembering your resurrection. We thank You for your death on the cross for our sins and for the promise of eternal life for those that believe in You. We thank You for Fr. Shaw, Mother Julie, and Lydia Mudge who are preparing to leave for Peru to make known among the nations what You have done. We sing your praises and pray for Mother Julie and her musical talents and hope that she finds opportunities to share her music as a witness to You. May all three of your servants glory in your name and minister to those who will seek You with all their hearts. May the Mudges and their contacts always look to You for strength and seek your face always. Amen.
