7/31/2009, #34, 3rd Quarter 2009

O God, you know my foolishness; and my sins are not hidden from you. (Psalm 69:5)
LORD, you know the sins and folly of the Episcopal Church, have mercy on us.

Let not those who wait for you, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed because of me; let not those who seek you be confounded because of me, O God of Israel. (Psalm 69:6)
Jesus, don't let me be the cause of anyone stumbling.

Because for your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face. (Psalm 69:7)
Jesus, thank you for the humiliation you went through for us.

I have become a stranger to my brothers, and an alien to my mother’s children; (Psalm 69:8 )
Holy Spirit, thank you for bringing me into the family of the body of Christ.

Because zeal for your house has eaten me up, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me. (Psalm 69:9)
Father, please help us to be steady in Jesus and bear whatever reproaches come our way because we are faithful. Thank you.

A word received: Pray for the magistrates of this land that true justice will be done. Pray for the judges of this land to know how to balance justice and mercy. Pray for the law to be fairly and honestly applied.
