12/26/2009, #83, 4th Quarter 2009

The LORD has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death. (Psalm 118:18 )
Thank you for your kindness to me and your chastening love, LORD.

Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go through them, and I will praise the LORD. (Psalm 118:19)
LORD, please help me walk in your ways and praise you.

This is the gate of the LORD, through which the righteous shall enter. (Psalm 118:20)
Jesus, please help me recognize which gates you have opened for me and which gates you have shut.

I will praise you, for you have answered me, and have become my salvation. (Psalm 118:21)
Jesus, I thank you and I praise you.

Subject: Mudge Scripture Prayer
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washings of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:4-7)
We thank You, Jesus, for all of the wonderful Christmas gifts that you have bestowed upon us. We praise and exalt You, on this anniversary of your wondrous birth. What a miracle that God would become man! We marvel at your kindness and love and mercy, Jesus, that you would save each and every one of us: The Mudge family, all the Peruvians to whom they minister, and the rest of us who intercede for them. Thank You for the Holy Spirit in our lives, for birth and renewal and all the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit. Thank You that being your heirs, we have the hope of eternal life.
Lord, thank You for Fr. Shaw and Mother Julie and Lydia Mudge. Be with them in a very manifest way, on this first Christmas that they are celebrating away from their immediate families. Continue to bless all their endeavors and give them that peace which passeth all understanding as they strive always to do your will. Amen.
Note from Jeanne Gizara: In celebration of our 40h wedding anniversary, my husband, Tom, and I will be traveling to Florida and taking a cruise in the Western Caribbean. We will be away from December 26 until January 11. Mudge Scripture Prayers will continue after January 11. Occasionally I will have e-mail access and will try to pass on Fr. Shaw's e-mails when possible. In the meantime, check out the blog for previous prayers that still apply.

Thank you for your prayers in 2009 and we hope that you will continue to pray with us for the Mudges in the new year. A blessed Christmas and New Year to you all.
