LORD, give us a heart to joyfully share the gospel.
Jesus said to him, "'If you can!' All things are possible to him who believes." (Mark 9:23)
Holy Spirit, help us believe in Jesus with great faith.
Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)
Lord, we believe; help our unbelief!
When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!" (Mark 9:25)
Jesus, cast out the unclean spirits that keep us deaf to the call to share the gospel and dumb that keep us from speaking of you when you place opportunities before us.
Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, "He is dead." (Mark 9:26)
Father, the Episcopal Church is greatly convulsed now and many say it is dead, but we say that just as you raised Jesus from the dead by the power of your Holy Spirit, you can raise the Episcopal Church to new life, and we thank you for that.
But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. (Mark 9:27)
Jesus, please take us by the hand and lift us up.
And when he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why could we not cast it out?" (Mark 9:28 )
Holy Spirit, please bring us to the place where all of us ask Jesus why we are unable to do the works we see in Scripture and that he has commanded us to do.
So he said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting." (Mark 9:29)
Lord, please bring us to a deepened life of prayer and fasting. Thank you.

Protect the dioceses of South Carolina and Albany and all your faithful dioceses, parishes, and people.

Jesus, please help us hear your call to us. Please help us daily deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow you.

Holy Spirit, show us each day what we must let go of.
"What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?" (Mark 8:36)
Father, help us to so fear you that we gain wisdom. All around us we see those who seek to gain what the world has to offer and are losing their souls. Have mercy on them and on us.
"Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Mark 8:37)
Jesus, please teach us the true value of our souls.
"If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." (Mark 8:38 )
Holy Spirit, please help us learn the true value of knowing Jesus; help us daily make him our Lord, whatever the cost.
And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power." (Mark 9:1)
Father, help us see your kingdom and the power of your Holy Spirit made visible among us in this diocese. Thank you.

Today was a rainy day. There were less pedestrians than usual, and many of those who passed by were in a hurry to get out of the rain. Yet there were still those who stopped for prayer, including some of our "regulars." We prayed for people as they passed by, that the Lord would meet their needs and draw them close to Himself, in His time.
+ Marie -- asked prayer for her boyfriend, that he would stop doing drugs
Jim – one of our "regulars" – he thanked God for peace of mind
+ Kayla -- one of the young women who used to come frequently for prayer – we haven't seen her for a while and have been wondering if she had moved, so it was great to see her today; we have prayed for her brother, Joshua, in the past while he was in jail; today Kayla came to the prayer table pushing her infant son in a stroller and asked us to pray for Joshua again -- he is back in jail and has been sentenced to 3 years in prison; she asked us for another cross, as she gave her other cross to her brother; we prayed for protection for Joshua while in prison and that he will get on the right path with the Lord
Bill -- another man who has come before to the prayer table – he was on his way to the bus stop but came for prayer first, asking us to pray for his health; he made the sign of the cross before we prayed and again after we finished praying, thanking us sincerely for our prayers
Kelly and Larry – parked their cars in our parking lot and stopped for prayer [they were on their way to participate in the '40 days for Life' ministry in front of Planned Parenthood (to find out more about it, go to http://40daysforlife.com/schenectady/)]; we prayed for protection for all those who are ministering in this way today, and we prayed for an end to abortion in America
Elaine, teen-aged daughter Becky, and their friend Pam – also on their way to the '40 days for Life' ministry
+ Howard -- this man stopped at the table and prayed for us (that the Lord would use us and keep us faithful)! He then asked us to pray for him that he would have the Lord's guidance and that he would have a close walk with God; we prayed that the Lord would lead him in a plain path, and that he would keep Howard steady in his faith

Heavenly Father, again we thank You for the Mudge family, Fr. Shaw and Mother Julie and Lydia. They are ambassadors for You and for Jesus Christ, Your Son, and for the Holy Spirit, three in one. We thank You for the good results in the Peruvian mission field: for the increased attendance at services, for the inspired preaching, for the teaching in the seminary and for the healing that is taking place. You are truly exalted through the work that the Mudges do for you. We ask for Your continued protection and provision for the Mudges as they bless You and praise You and bring glory to You. Amen.
