5/29/2010, #72, 2nd Quarter 2010

Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed. (1 Timothy 6:1)
Jesus, you brought me to my job; help me to be obedient to those you have placed over me. Help me to behave in such a manner that your name is praised and honored.

And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things. (1 Timothy 6:2)
Father, please bless my managers and help them profit from my work.

If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, (1 Timothy 6:3)
Holy Spirit, please give me discernment about the words and teaching of others.

he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, (1 Timothy 6:4)
Jesus, please help us recognize the consequences of entering into such disputes: the fruit if bitter and does not feed the soul.

useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. (1 Timothy 6:5)
Holy Spirit, godliness with contentment is great gain: help us make the choices for godliness and trusting in Jesus to provide for us. Enable us to say with Paul: "Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:11-13)

Saturday: 42, 43; Proverbs 25:15-28; 1 Timothy 6:6-21; Matthew 13:36-43

Subject: Mudge Scripture Prayer
Give double honor to spiritual leaders who handle their duties well. This is especially true if they work hard at teaching the word of God. (1 Timothy 5:17)
Father God, we honor the Mudges, Fr. Shaw and Mother Julie and Lydia. They handle their duties well and they work hard at teaching Your Word. Thank You for the opportunities that You have given them to teach and minister in Peru. Thank You that they have had the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of so many seminarians and church members in Lima. Thank You for filling them with Your Holy Spirit, enabling them to spread the knowledge and love of Jesus so effectively.
We pray, Lord, for a good week of rest and relaxation and visiting with family. Grant the Mudges refreshment, recreation and renewal. Keep all safe as Lydia learns to drive. Be with Hannah as she gets ready to be ordained to the diaconate. And be with them all as they prepare for their presentations at the Diocesan Convention.
We ask all of this in Jesus' name. Amen

Albany Intercessor
