9/15/2010, #80, 3rd Quarter 2010

Your hands have made me and fashioned me; give me understanding, that I may learn your commandments. (Psalm 119:73)
LORD, continue to fashion me according to your purposes; give me understanding so that I may walk in your commandments. Help me to walk in your commandments so that I may have understanding.

Those who fear you will be glad when they see me, because I have hoped in your word. (Psalm 119:74)
Holy Spirit, write your word on my heart and make me a man of hope.

I know, O LORD, that your judgments are right, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. (Psalm 119:75)
Jesus, thank you for the hard times as well as the easy times.

Let, I pray, your merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to your word to your servant. (Psalm 119:76)
Father, I long for another touch of your Holy Spirit.

Let your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight. (Psalm 119:77)
Father, your tender mercies have carried me to this day.

Let the proud be ashamed, for they treated me wrongfully with falsehood; but I will meditate on your precepts. (Psalm 119:78 )
Holy Spirit, bring humility to the proud.

Let those who fear you turn to me, those who know your testimonies. (Psalm 119:79)
Jesus, please help me to be a faithful and effective witness for you.

Let my heart be blameless regarding your statutes, that I may not be ashamed. (Psalm 119:80)
Purify my heart, Lord; I want to be holy -- to be your man. Thank you.

Subject: Prayer request for Fr. Curtis and Mary Denney from Fr. Rob
All of you know of Mary’s continuing decline, but some may not know that Fr. Denney has been diagnosed with COPD and as seen some decline in his lungs. He is currently in the hospital at Claxton Hepburn after going to the emergency room last night. He was having great trouble breathing. His Doctor has told him he does not have pneumonia nor is at risk right now of developing it. The doctor calls it an anomaly from which he should recover just fine. He is expected to go home Thursday. Mary is staying with their son Dan and his wife for the time being as she can no longer be at home alone. Please pray for Curtis and Mary not only for curtis’ current ailment, but for the situation surrounding their health needs and concerns.

Dear Partners in Prayer,
Peace be with you. This is our weekly public prayer mail.
Thanksgivings:
      1) For what the students are learning.
      2) The weather is getting warmer. Spring approaches.
      3) That our fellow missionaries are returning from the US and the UK.
      4) For the great service we had on Sunday at La Ascension.
      5) For Hannah and Christina having found a place to live in Troy.
      6) That we are in recovery from a cold.
Prayers:
      1) For our relationships, ministries, finances, resources, and priorities.
      2) For the students in our classes this week. Next week is their final week of this cycle before exams.
      3) For the Consecration of Fr. Mike Chapman on Saturday at the Cathedral in Lima. This is a major event for the diocese, and it is the first consecration of a Suffragan Bishop in the history of the Diocese. Pray for Fr. Mike, Linda, the MC, and that there would be appropriate places for all the invited guests. This looks to be an overflow situation, filling the nave, the parish hall, and more.
      4) For the administrative needs of the seminary and the Diocese.
      5) That we would be able to keep on top of all the daily things that we need to do. That the residual effect of the cold would go away, especially for Julie.
      6) For the growth of the Mission of La Ascension, where we have been attending.
      7) Mayoral elections are coming up in October. Please keep these in your prayers.
      8 ) For Lydia's college application process.
      9) For Church Pension Group paperwork we need to complete because of our switching careers to our missionary situation, as well as other administrative matters in our lives.
Thank you for praying for us. Your praying really makes a difference, and I pray for you every day.
God bless you.
In Christ, Shaw, and on behalf of Julie and Lydia
Missionaries of the Diocese of Albany, serving in Lima, Peru.
