"Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask him." (Matthew 6:8 )
Father, thank you for knowing our every need and hearing our every cry!

"In this manner, therefore, pray:" (Matthew 6:9a)
Jesus, please establish your patterns of prayer among us.

"Our Father in heaven," (Matthew 6:9b)
Father, thank you for your giving us your Spirit of adoption so that we can know you as our father.

"Hallowed be your name." (Matthew 6:9c)
Father, please help us keep your name holy.

"Your kingdom come." (Matthew 6:10a)
Father, establish your kingdom in our hearts and in our lives.

"Your will be done" (Matthew 6:10b)
Father, we pray for your will and purposes to be accomplished among us. Do your will in our family.

"On earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10c)
Father, we ask for your will be done in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia , Algeria, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Yemen, the Gulf States, Sudan (North and South), Israel, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Turkey.

"And forgive us our debts," (Matthew 6:12a)
Father, thank you for sending your son Jesus to us and to the cross so that the debt of our sin could be lifted from us.

"As we forgive our debtors." (Matthew 6:12b)
Father, fill us anew with your life-giving Holy Spirit so that we will find the freedom to forgive others. Move among us with this desire to forgive and help us pray for the Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts-Schori.

Father, please preserve our hearts during times of hard testing.

"But deliver us from the evil one." (Matthew 6:13b)
