8/27/2011, #59, 3rd Quarter 2011

So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning till evening. And some were persuaded by the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved. So when they did not agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had said one word: "The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, (Acts 28:23-25)
Holy Spirit, please help us hear what the prophets are saying to us in our generation.

saying, 'Go to this people and say: (Acts 28:26a)
Holy Spirit, give us hearts that are willing to go to your people and speak your word.

"Hearing you will hear, and shall not understand; (Acts 28:26b)
Lord Jesus, our hearing has grown dull -- have mercy upon us.

And seeing you will see, and not perceive; (Acts 28:26c)
Father, we have become spiritually blind -- have mercy on us.

For the hearts of this people have grown dull. their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, (Acts 28:27a)
Lord Jesus Christ, bring us to such a repentance of our sins and an immersion in your Holy Spirit that our ears and eyes are opened to your word and truth.

Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them."' (Acts 28:27b
Father, we hope in your word to us: "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

"Therefore let it be known to you that the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it!" (Acts 28:28 )
Jesus, please help us receive this mighty salvation you have sent to us and give us ears to hear it. Thank you.

ALMIGHTY God, Father of all mercies, we thine unworthy servants do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and loving-kindness to us, and to all men; We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful, and that we shew forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.BCP

Details of Prayer Request: Please pray for Rebecca, who is very troubled. She is in a relationship where her boyfriend does not respect her. There are a lot of different problems going on and she is stressed out and finds it impossible to talk about any of them to the Dr. She had stopped going to Church for over a year but has been out a few Sundays recently(thank God). She knows she needs God, but there is just 'a big brick wall' that she doesnt know how to knock down. She has no self esteem and feels worthless. Please pray for the whole situation and also for her friend who feels very inadaquate to deal with this. Thank You. Please also pray for a fella Ian, I dont know where he is or who he is with, but I know he needs God and would just love to know that someone, somewhere is influencing him for good and for God. Thank you again.
