1/12/2012, #12, 1st Quarter 2012
For you will light my lamp; the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. (Psalm 18:28 )
Father, come with your light into my life and the life of my parish and the Diocese of Albany. Let the fire of your Holy Spirit provide light for us to see by.
For by you I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall. (Psalm 18:29)
Holy Spirit, help us leap over the denominational walls that separate us from our brothers and sisters who walk in the way of Jesus.
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is proven; he is a shield to all who trust in him. (Psalm 18:30)
Jesus, your way is perfect -- help us walk in it. Your word is faithful and true. You are my shield, for I trust in you. Thank you.
A word received: Pray for wisdom for my people.

My best friend, whom I knew since I was five months old, told me the week before he died of lung cancer, "Nigel you have to tell people not to smoke!" He then muttered something about a .357 Magnum hand gun having the same result! That was a conversation I shall never forget for all of my life. Hey PLEASE don't smoke; it can kill you and others around you.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Last night, The Rev Geraldine and Byard Clemmons received the telephone call that no parent wants to receive. Their son, Don, was dead. He was murdered. Please uphold them in your prayers as they make their way to Arkansas and for Don’s family. Mtr. Gerry is rector, St. John’s, Cohoes.
Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord; let light perpetual shine upon him.
We also received news that Fr Colley Bell, retired priest of the Diocese, died on December 12, 2011 in Kentucky where he lived. He is survived by his wife, Charline. Fr. Bell was rector, Church of Our Saviour, Lebanon Springs from 1983-1989.
Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord; let light perpetual shine upon him.
Almighty God, Father of all mercies and giver of comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with all who mourn; that, casting all their care on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen (BCP pg 505)

I am asking if you would please include prayers for Nigeria in your daily prayer and if we could have others do the same. There is significant violence taking place as Muslims who are part of the group Boko Haram are attacking Christians, the government and noncooperative Muslims in the northern states of Nigeria and have continued to stir issues and violence in Plateau State as well. Plateau State is where the Anglican Arch Diocese of Jos is located under Bishop Ben Kwashi.

Torre and Jean,
What a wake up call! Living daily knowing we do not deserve any grace but determined to trust in God's grace.
1790 - they didn't make excuses for human conditions. Or not as much as today.
Jesus' peace, Eric
