10/12/2013, #10, 4th Quarter 2013

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. (Matthew 9:35)
Jesus, please come into every community in this diocese and teach in our churches, and cause the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom to all. Heal every sickness and every disease among the people.

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. (Matthew 9:36)
Holy Spirit, raise up faithful shepherds who have the compassion of Jesus to tend the flock.

Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." (Matthew 9:37-38 )
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." (Isaiah 6:8 ) Lord, I pray that you will send more laborers out into the harvest fields. Here am I, send me.

Father, send forth laborers into the harvest fields. Give your people a passion for Jesus. Take us to a deeper level where we are all willing to share Jesus with others. Thank you.

Subject: Dock prayer update Oct 2013 [Titanic Quarter, Belfast, Northern Ireland]
Hello praying people! The Dock needs your prayers at the moment... it has been a tough few weeks and your prayers would be much appreciated!
The cafe has been tremendously busy over the last month - almost busier than we can cope with. The volunteers are feeling a bit exhausted and need all the encouragement we can get - many of our customers are quite difficult and a day at the coffee bar can feel a bit thankless.
Pray for:
      - more volunteers!
      - encouragement and strength for the existing volunteers who are serving faithfully and wonderfully under intense pressure
      - Tegan, who more than any of us rises to the challenge of remaining cheerful and welcoming day-after-day
      - the students who abuse the cafe and the Honesty Box - pray for them!
      - and for the students who respond, chat, help out, get involved - thank God that he is moving among so many people who have no other contact with church
      - pray for God's provision on the days when the Honesty Box doesn't quite make ends meet
      - the Met College Christian Union who meet in Dock Cafe
      - other customers - residents, business professionals, visitors and tourists. Please pray for the success of our efforts to make sure that the Dock is a genuinely shared space for the whole community - not just a student hangout
      - the Dock Chaplains - we are now six! Pray for the chance to have life-changing conversations with customers
      - the Dock directors who are trying hard to find ways to make all this tremendous momentum sustainable - and who have some big decisions to take over coming weeks. Pray for the right people on the Dock team at every level
      - Sunday Dock Walks and the exciting chance to start holding services on board SS Nomadic (watch this space!)
      - protection on the Dock project. Without going into details, it feels as if some of our key people are under attack at the moment
      - health - spiritual, emotional and physical - for all of us involved
Thanks praying people! Sorry this message is a bit short and to the point - as I said, it's been a long day!
Much love to you all
