10/31/2013, #26, 4th Quarter 2013
Father, wherever there are stony hearts, work in them with your Holy Spirit and give them hearts of flesh according to your word (Ezekiel 11:19). Help us hear and understand your word.
But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. (Matthew 13:20-21)
Jesus, there are so many stony places in my life, yet you said even the very stones can cry out to honor you (Luke 19:40). Let all such stony places in my life give you praise and honor.
Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. (Matthew 13:22)
Jesus, please help me by your Holy Spirit to cast all my cares on you for you care for me (1 Peter 5:7)
But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." (Matthew 13:23)
Holy Spirit, please help us by Jesus' righteousness to be vigorous, sturdy, and fruitful, even to old age (Psalm 92:12-15)
A word received: Trust me.
