10/4/2013, #4, 4th Quarter 2013
Holy Spirit, help all of us in this diocese come to understand (and live out) what it means to be under the authority of Jesus and have him as Lord of our lives.
When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 8:10-12)
Jesus, bring us to this same kind of faith as the centurion had where we will truly trust you to hear and act on our prayers.
Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." And his servant was healed that same hour. (Matthew 8:13)
Father, we pray for the healing ministry throughout this diocese:
let the blind see,
the lame walk,
the lepers and the unclean be cleansed,
the deaf hear,
the dead be raised,
the poor have the gospel preached to them,
and we are blessed because we are not offended by the way Jesus does things (see Matthew 11:5-6).
Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for your suffering church, for those who will die today because of their faith in you. Give them strength to endure to the end. Thank you.
A word received: Cry out to me in hope and faith as the centurion did.

Righteousness exalts a nation; but sin is a reproach (disgrace) to any people. Proverbs 14:34
Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling: their words and deeds are against the Lord, defying His glorious presence. Isaiah 3:8
I am the Lord, I change not. Malachi 3:6
Lord of the Harvest we pray that you will raise up workers for the fields white for harvest. Call men and women to work as church planters in Belfast and in other un-churched communities. Pour out your Holy Spirit on these communities especially on the Lower Braniel, Tullycarnett and in the area of Belfast around Central Station. Bring many to yourself in saving faith and cause new worshipping and interceding communities to be birthed for your glory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Almighty God pour out your enabling grace and Holy Spirit on those involved in pioneering new congregations of worship. Bestow your blessing and your protect on George Newell, John Beattie, Susan McFarland, Josh Lewis and others called to this work. Use them to plant new congregations and to see men, women and children drawn into your living saving embrace in the strong name of Jesus, Lord of the church we pray. Amen.
