10/7/2013, #5, 4th Quarter 2013

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. (1 Corinthians 10:23)
Holy Spirit, help us choose only those things that are lawful, helpful, and that will edify us.

Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being. (1 Corinthians 10:24)
Jesus, let this mind be in us which was also in you -- to build up your body, the Church, and make it a fruitful garden where we feed, cclothe, build each other up. Thank you.

for "the earth is the LORD'S, and all its fullness." (1 Corinthians 10:26)
Father, thank you for the bounty you have provided for us. Help us lay aside anxiety and place our trust in you. Thank you.

Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen one stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he destroy them. (Psalm 106:23)
A word received: Stand in the gap with me. Intercede for my people.

A word received: Trust in me.

***** Prayer requests from Willowfield parish in Belfast, Northern Ireland:
This just in from Liz Fetherstonhaugh: Would you ask the prayer chain to pray again for Cambodia. It has been raining constantly for a week now and over 50 people have lost their lives due to severe flooding. They really need the rains to cease. One of the children sent me a photo of the front of her home and it looks like a new lake has appeared from nowhere. Once again Cambodia’s plight has not been reported in the media and once again it seems to be a forgotten country. God and his people have not forgotten them hence this message for prayer. One good thing to come out of this is that the protesters have been unable to meet. Thanks to all who stand in the gap. God bless

***** Dear Torre, Today, Oct 5th, we prayed for you and Jean at the Prayer Table! Viviane is the Egyptian woman to whom I gave the Arabic Bible. She was thrilled to receive it, and a little awed! Viviane is our "tireless leader" of the Schenectady 40 Days for Life campaign. Thanks, Torre!

Subject: Mudge Scripture Prayer
Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name! (Psalm 97:11-12)
Thank You Father God for the light that You sent into the world, the precious light of your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the joy of knowing Him and being sure of our salvation. We rejoice in You, Lord, and give thanks to your holy name.
And Lord, we again lift up Fr. Shaw and Mother Julie and ask for your continuing blessings upon them. And in particular, we pray the following litany:
For the students whom You want in the program.
For the financing that You want for the program.
For the parish visits that You want the Mudges to make.
For the course development work that You want for the program, and for the appropriate faculty to teach the courses.
For the online campuses in Belize and Tanzania.
That the Mudges are open to what You want them to do.
For the October and January visits to Belize.
For all the Mudge family members that they have your support as they make important decisions, try to implement plans, and face challenges.
You are the Almighty God and we thank You for answering our prayers.
      Amen.

***** Hi Torre,
I want to thank you again for your faithful ministry with the prayer table and the readings. We in Cooperstown have been doing a prayer table in front of the church every summer, but it is slow going. Today, we did one in the rummage sale, and we had some really good prayer. I feel so blessed and touched by people's needs and by being able to pray for them. I just need a little courage to approach the Lord's Table in Oneonta. Love, Anita Born

Man walking by proudly held out his wooden cross and proclaimed he had had it on for 7 years. What a testimony!
