11/20/2013, #45, 4th Quarter 2013
Father, please help us honor you and reverence you in thought, word, and deed.
Yet you say, 'In what way have we despised Your name?' "You offer defiled food on my altar. But say, 'In what way have we defiled you?' By saying, 'The table of the LORD is contemptible.' And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably?" says the LORD of hosts. (Malachi 1:6b-8 )
Jesus, help us daily offer the best we have to you -- our lives and our hopes.
"But now entreat God's favor, that he may be gracious to us. While this is being done by your hands, will he accept you favorably?" Says the LORD of hosts. (Malachi 1:9a)
Holy Spirit, help us daily entreat God's favor so that you may be gracious to us.
A word received: I want you to know me. ["know" implies an intimate relationship]

***** ST. ANN'S OF AMSTERDAM (Monday, November 18, 2013; 10-11 a.m. in front of our church on Division Street. Clear and warm morning; lots of people out and about. We gave away a TON of the free, non-perishable food we are offering along with warm winter clothing items -- hats, gloves, socks, scarves. Lionel Gibbs and Deacon Alan Hart presiding at His table today.)
t -- received wooden cross made by Dennis Adams of North Carolina.
a -- anointed with Holy Oil.
f -- received food items.
c -- received winter clothing.
f,c -- THERESA and MARIA -- These two women stopped for prayer for continued good health.
f -- NANCY -- Asked for prayer for her sister (no name given) who lives in New Hampshire and is in "trouble." The Lord knows the details.
f, c -- DAVID -- Asked for prayer to help deal with a neighbor who has been causing him a lot of distress. David is very angry with this man and doesn't get along with him.
f,c, a -- REBECCA and her young nephew MICHAEL -- Rebecca is a regular at our table, but for the first time she brought her two-year-old nephew along. They had just visited the doctor because Michael apparently was bitten several times by a spider overnight. We prayed for his recovery from the bites and anointed him with Holy Oil for healing.
f,c -- ED, SHERRY, ANOTHER WOMAN (no name) -- This trio came to the table for food and clothing. Sherry usually receives prayer for healing in her neck and spine issues, but this time she declined and said "I'm good."
t -- JOTTY -- This woman gave us her nickname only. She asked for prayer for relief from pains she has been having. She told us she has seen us out on the street and wanted to stop in past weeks but hasn't had the courage. She said to us, "I decided that if you were out here again today, I would stop. Here you are, so ... here I am!"
***** Pause for a moment.
Stop what you are doing.
Invite The Lord Into your life.
Make this moment an investment in your future.
A life changing breath, brining you into life eternal...
Fr. Nigel Mumford+
Can we look at Christ’s wounds on the cross and try to stop looking at our wounds, seen and unseen. The very scar tissue, the reminder of the past, staring back at you. Or indeed the forming scar tissue of the present wound. Evidence of the body and mind repairing itself in and through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Hearing His very words, "Peace I give to you..."
