3/10/2014, #60, 1st Quarter 2014

John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. (Mark 1:4)
Father, bring us to that baptism of repentance where our sins will be washed away. Let the preaching throughout the diocese bring people to repentance and conversion.

And he preached, saying, "There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. I indeed baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." (Mark 1:7-8 )
Jesus, baptize us, immerse us anew in your Holy Spirit. We need the fire of his love.

Holy Spirit, descend upon us. Prepare our hearts to go deeper in love with Jesus.

Then a voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Mark 1:11)
Father, please help us receive your Spirit of adoption whereby we will know you as our "Abba [Dad], Father". (See Romans 8:15 and Ephesians 1:1-5)

Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: (1 Corinthians 1:1-2)
A word received (1/19/14): Come, I Am calling you.

Jesus, please help us respond to your call to holiness of life.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 1:3)
LORD, we long for your grace and peace. Let the light of your countenance shine forth at the Diocesan Convention. Thank you.

A word received: My hand is upon you, guiding you.

A prayer received: Walk with us and keep us steady.

***** Mudge Missionary Prayer Mail for March 10
Dear partners in prayer, This is a public prayer mail. We hope you are having a blessed Lent.
This week's selective overview:
      1) Course design work continues. Interest continues to grow in our online program. I have added a "mission" section to our Google library links.
      2) Have been preparing for my upcoming trip to Belize, and by the time some of you read this, I may be on my way.
      3) How are we doing, numbers-wise? Since the beginning of Advent, 125 individual people have been exploring our Google Library links site (open to the public world-wide), 7 new people since I last mentioned it: http://goo.gl/XXF0Ti.
Prayer requests:
      1) For my trip to Belize this week.
      2) Pray for plans under consideration. Your prayers are very helpful.
      3) Pray that our parish and presentation visitation schedule be the Holy Spirit's schedule.
      4) Pray that the Holy Spirit would guide and supply the needs of: faculty, family, finances, plans, programs, diocesan plans, and parish visits.
In Christ, Shaw+, and on behalf of Julie+

***** Jeanne Gizara, Saturday, March 8, 2014, Mudge Scripture Prayer March 8
I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance,I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:11b-13)
We thank You Lord that Father Shaw Mudge, like Paul, can do all things that You want him to do through You who strengthens him. We pray especially for extra blessings as he gets ready to take another trip to Belize. We pray for safe travel and for guidance from your Holy Spirit as he does the bishop's bidding and interacts with lots of clergy and potential clergy and people who want to increase their faith and their relationships with You.
We thank You Lord that he can be content in any situation, but we pray that more situations are abounding ones rather than low points. We ask for blessings for his finances and his family and that all have that abundant life which You promised in John 10:10. Amen!
