Lord, all around us we see people headed for destruction. Help us by your Holy Spirit to pull them back from the abyss.
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (Matthew 7:15)
Jesus, your church is full of false prophets who despise your word and say that the gate is wide and anyone can get in without going through you to the Father.
You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. (Matthew 7:16-18 )
Holy Spirit, give us discernment of the fruit, whether it comes from good trees or bad. Help us to be fruit inspectors rather than judges.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. (Matthew 7:19-20)
Jesus, please help by your Spirit to move people to examine their lives by your light. Thank you.
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. (2 Thessalonians 3:1-2)
Lord, we join Paul in making this apostolic request for our bishops and leaders. Thank you.
A word received: Turn to me first, not last.
