5/30/2014, #34, 2nd Quarter 2014

Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. (Mark 16:14)
Holy Spirit, rebuke us whenever we slip into hardness of heart and disbelieve the teaching of those who have been touched by Jesus and seen him.

And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mark 16:15)
Also I heart of voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." (Isaiah 6:8 )

So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the signs following. Amen. (Mark 16:19-20)
Jesus, confirm your word and your work in our lives by "signs following". Thank you.

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." (Matthew 7:24-27)
Father, we are in the midst of a great storm and much that seemed solid that was not built on the rock is being swept away

Jesus, you are the rock; help us build only on you. Help us by your Holy Spirit to recognize and embrace that which is solid and enduring and to shun that which is merely fashionable and is passing away.

Holy Spirit, revive your people and your church. Come with power upon the Diocesan Convention and show us the way forward. Thank you.

A word received: Pray for my Holy Spirit to refresh you.

A word received: Turn to me.

A word received: I have set you on a rock -- my son Jesus -- do not be afraid. (Matthew7:24-27)

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
(Colossians 1: 9-12)
Father God, we continually ask You to fill Father Shaw with the knowledge of your will. May your Holy Spirit grant him all wisdom and understanding so that he may live a worthy life and be pleasing to You in every way. May Father Shaw’s work bear fruit for You while he and his students grow in knowledge of You. May they be strengthened with all power, having great endurance and patience. May they have joyful hearts as they share your message of salvation and invite people into the kingdom of light.
Father God, we also ask for a wonderful conclusion to Father Shaw’s latest trip to Belize and a safe journey home. Many of us look forward to seeing him and Julie at the Diocesan Convention. Bless us all, Lord. Amen.

***** Bishop's Special Convention Message
The 146th Diocesan Convention - "Passion for Jesus, Going Deeper", May 29, 2014, Ascension Day
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The finishing touches are being made on the upcoming 146th Diocesan Convention scheduled for Friday June 6th through Sunday June 8th at Camp of the Woods, Speculator, NY. It promises to be a wonderful, Holy Spirit-filled weekend for everyone who attends - clergy and laity, young and old alike. There is something for the whole family! If you have not yet registered, it's not too late, but it soon will be. Don't wait any longer! Online registration will close this Monday, June 2nd at 8 am. Until then, you may easily register by clicking http://www.albanyepiscopaldiocese.org/forms/Convention/2014/2014ConventionRegistrationForm.php .
The Convention theme, "Passion for Jesus - Going Deeper" is a reflection of the Great Commandment: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind" (Matthew 22:37). Most everything we will do throughout the weekend is intended to help each of us grow in our love for the Lord and one for another. This includes our worship services, plenary sessions, workshops, healing service, social time, Vacation Bible School and Jr./Sr. High Youth Rally.
Our special guests this year include: The Rev. Dr. Russ Parker (International Ambassador at Acorn Christian Healing Foundation ), The Rt. Rev. Dr. Grant LeMarquand (Anglican Suffragan Bishop of The Diocese of Egypt and the Horn of Africa ), The Rt. Rev. Darren McCartney (Suffragan Bishop of The Diocese of the Arctic ), and the Rt. Rev. Harold Miller (Bishop of The Diocese of Down and Dromore , Companion Diocese of the Episcopal Diocese of Albany). They all demonstrate a great passion for Jesus in their lives and ministries. Each one of our special guests is also a very gifted speaker and they all have much to share with us.
In addition to our guest speakers, we also have quite a few inspiring and informative workshops being offered throughout the weekend. Each one of these workshops is designed to help you strengthen your faith and your relationship with our Lord - to truly go deeper in your passion for Jesus! To see descriptions of the workshops, click http://www.albanyepiscopaldiocese.org/convention/2014/2014ConvWkshopDesc.html .
I pray you and your family will join me and countless other friends from around the Diocese and the wider Church for this year's Diocesan Convention. I look forward to being with you.
      Faithfully Yours in Christ, +Bill
