5/3/2014, #14, 2nd Quarter 2014

[Note from Torre: Our son Jonathan, who often puntificates to me, sent the following to me when I told him I might need a knee replacement: "I guess you'll be singing a'patella for awhile. :)"]

Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said to Joshua, "Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand." So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. (Exodus 17:8-13)
Holy Spirit, guide us in our prayers and deeds so that we hold up the hands of those who are our leaders in Christ. We pray for them so that the whole people of God will be blessed by you.

Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples! For his merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD! (Psalm 117:1-2)
Jesus, let your truth endure in us and be faithfully and powerfully proclaimed at the Diocesan Convention.

Father, help us by your Holy Spirit to fall move in love with Jesus each day.

A word received: Look to me for the love you need for others.

A word received: I AM trustworthy -- give me your burdens.
