6/5/2014, #37, 2nd Quarter 2014

[Note from Torre: We are going to the Diocesan Convention and then on Tuesday I will be having my right knee replaced at Saratoga Hospital. I expect to be off the computer for the next couple of weeks.]

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, (Ephesians 4:11-12)
Holy Spirit, help me be the evangelist you have called me to be so that the whole body of Christ is built up. Thank you.

"Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. (Ephesians 4:26-27)
[Note from Torre: people have asked us what the "secret" is of staying married for 50 years, and our answer is always the same: "Don't go to bed angry."

Holy Spirit, move in the hearts and wills and minds and spirits of the couples of this diocese so that they choose to lie down and be at peace with one another each night. Thank you.

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians 4:31-32)

A word received: Be still and know that I Am God. Be still and listen.

***** Prayer Table Report ST. ANN'S OF AMSTERDAM, (Monday, June 2, 2014; 9:45-10:45 a.m. in front of our church on Division Street. A gorgeous, sun-splashed morning. Lots of people out and about. Today we gave away free T-shirts and slightly-used running shoes from a road race recently held in Johnstown. We also gave away the usual free non-perishable food we offer each Monday.)

t-- received wooden cross made by Dennis Adams of North Carolina.
a -- anointed with Holy Oil.
f -- received free non-perishable food.
s, T -- received free running shoes and T shirt.

s -- ETHEL -- This sweet older woman has come to our healing services and even bible study in recent months. She walks all over Amsterdam delivering food to friends and relatives. SHe took a pair of our sneakers. She needs them with all the walking she does for others!

f,s -- EDWIN and MARIA -- This couple comes nearly every Monday for prayer and food. They said today, as they always do, "God bless you!" to us.

a,t, s T,f -- HEATHER -- This young woman was driving by and stopped at the traffic light, and she asked "How much do they (shoes) cost?" When we told her they were free, she backed up, parked and came over. She took a couple of pairs of shoes, some food, a cross and asked for prayer. Anointed her with Holy Oil. Then she started to weep and said, "I am having a bad time right now. I asked God for some help while I was driving a few minutes ago, and ... here you are! He helped me!" We prayed for her good health and protection and for her boyfriend (no name) who is traveling a long distance today.

s T, f -- DONNA -- This woman is a runner who stopped a few months ago in the cold and snow and has been coming by ever since for prayer and the free items we offer. We prayed for her to be safe while she is running in the streets.

s T, f -- NANCY -- She always stops every Monday. She is a woman who lives with her sister and they are grateful for the food she says " ... helps us get by." We prayed for her to be safe.

f, s T -- DARCY -- Always asks for a blessing for protection and good health. She tried on a pair of shoes, kept them on and tossed her old ones away!

s T, f -- RITA -- Requested prayer for healing (no details) and safety.

a, f, s T, a -- BIANCA -- This older woman has been asking for protection from demons who she says are always lurking around her. She said since we have been praying for her, the demons have stopped bothering her and can't "get to her" anymore. But we again asked God the father to keep these evil spirits away; to send them to Jesus to bind and do with as He will.

f, s T, a -- MARCIA -- This woman from Altamont has become a regular at the Monday free meal across the street at the Masonic Temple and also at the table. She said she came to our last Community Meal at St. Ann's. She is extremely needy. She has three teen-aged children and one of them (son, ADAM) was recently beaten up and robbed and has needed medical attention she said she cannot afford. We prayed for her to be delivered from the financial woes she is having and for her family to be safe and well.

a, f, s T -- JENNY -- This young woman said she fell last night and is "hurting." We prayed for healing for Jenny.

s T, f -- ED -- Semi-regular who stops sometimes. This time he asked for prayer "to be well."

s T -- MARSHALL -- Young man with obvious behavioral problems he cannot always control has sometimes cussed at us and made gestures. Today he was as calm and polite as can be. He said "Thank you very much" and smiled after taking a pair of shoes.
