***** SAVE THE DATE! -- On Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Ann's of Amsterdam, the husband/wife deacon team of Alan and MaryCarol Hart will perform live music at "The Concert for Deacon Brenda." The concert is free, but a free-will offering will be taken with all proceeds going to a fund for Deacon Brenda Nickles, who serves the Albany Episcopal Diocese as deacon vicar at St. Luke's Church in Chatham. (Brenda was diagnosed with cancer some time ago and thankfully underwent surgery which was completely successful. Brenda is back at work and although usual radiation or the chemotherapy is not required, shes does need to have several followup treatments. When this illness was diagnosed, Brenda did not have health insurance and consequently is facing some significant bills. There will be a bake sale during/following the Harts' concert, again with all proceeds going to the fund for Brenda. The Harts will be performing many original tunes written by Alan, plus many familiar folk and popular favorites of theirs from other singer/songwriters. Come one, come all!

***** Mudge Scripture Prayer, Sat, Aug 9, 2014

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13)

God of hope, we thank You for the joy and peace that comes from trusting in You. We thank You for the gift of your Holy Spirit that makes all things in your will possible and which brings so much hope.

Father God, we thank You for your Son Jesus Christ and the ultimate gift that He offers to us.

Father God, we thank You for the joy and peace which Father Shaw Mudge obtains as he believes in You and plugs into the power of the Holy Spirit as he does his mission work for the people of Belize. Thank You for the hope that the Anglicans in Belize now have because of the ordination of new priests and other fruit of Father Shaw’s ministry.

We pray for continuing inspiration, hope, joy and peace for Father Shaw and his family as they proceed on the journey that You have willed for them. We pray for the move to Manchester CT, for the continued affiliation with the Diocese of Albany, for the mission work in Belize, for the development of the course about Anglican church history and the preparations for the trip to Belize in late September.

We ask for peace, effectiveness, love, joy and creativity for Father Shaw and his whole family.

***** Dear partners in prayer, This is our public prayer mail for August 6, The Transfiguration.
This week's selective overview:
Dates have been tentatively set for the first ordinations in Belize in several years, to sometime in late September.
I prepare for teaching my next on-line course, beginning in a few weeks.
Meanwhile, the transition to Connecticut continues as our new base of operations shifts. Julie has finished her CPE program in Hartford, CT, and now focuses primarily on the two hospitals in Rockville and Manchester.
Prayer requests:
      1) Pray for the mission work in Belize, the translation of the online course work into Spanish for Belize and surrounding countries, and the on-going work of the Spanish version of the Book of Common Prayer for the Church in the Province of the West Indies.
      2) Pray for my course preparation work for the next on-line course that I plan to teach, beginning August 30th and lasting to mid-October: "What God has been doing in Anglicanism" (Anglican Church History/Liturgy).
      3) Pray for our transition to Manchester over the course of the next few weeks, and for Julie's new responsibilities as staff hospital chaplain at two area hospitals. Pray for peace, effectiveness, love, joy, and creativity.
God bless you. In Christ, Shaw+, and on behalf of Julie+ and Lydia.
