8/11/2014, #6, 3rd Quarter 2014

Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)
Holy Spirit, please help us take Jesus' words to heart. Bring everyone in this diocese to a new birth in you.

But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God." (John 3:21)
Jesus, help me bring all my deeds into your light. Thank you.

But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, "Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life." (Acts 5:19-20)
Father, give us the courage to go and speak whatever your messengers or your Holy Spirit give us to say.

He shall cry to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.' (Psalm 89:26)
Father, help us know you as David did: as our Father, our God, and the rock of our salvation.

Blessed be the LORD forevermore! Amen and Amen. (Psalm 89:52)
      Amen and Amen!

John 3:3, WORD: Pray for my people to desire a new birth in me.

***** SAVE THE DATE! -- On Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Ann's of Amsterdam, the husband/wife deacon team of Alan and MaryCarol Hart will perform live music at "The Concert for Deacon Brenda." The concert is free, but a free-will offering will be taken with all proceeds going to a fund for Deacon Brenda Nickles, who serves the Albany Episcopal Diocese as deacon vicar at St. Luke's Church in Chatham. (Brenda was diagnosed with cancer some time ago and thankfully underwent surgery which was completely successful. Brenda is back at work and although usual radiation or the chemotherapy is not required, shes does need to have several followup treatments. When this illness was diagnosed, Brenda did not have health insurance and consequently is facing some significant bills. There will be a bake sale during/following the Harts' concert, again with all proceeds going to the fund for Brenda. The Harts will be performing many original tunes written by Alan, plus many familiar folk and popular favorites of theirs from other singer/songwriters. Come one, come all!
