9/3/2014, #18, 3rd Quarter 2014

"For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease. Though its root may grow old in the earth, and its stump may die in the ground, yet at the scent of water it will bud and bring forth branches like a plant. (Job 14:7-9)

Lord Jesus, bring new life to your church. Let the river of your Spirit water it. Let it bring forth new buds and leaves.

My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to your word. (Psalm 119:25)
Holy Spirit, revive me; revive your church.

How precious is your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your pleasures. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. (Psalm 36:7-9)
Father, help me drink from the river of your pleasures and from your fountain of life. Thank you.

There the workers of iniquity have fallen; they have been cast down and are not able to rise. (Psalm 36:12)
My father was a "wandering Aramean" (Dt 26:6 RSV), but you have given me a home in you. Thank you.

Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. (Job 13:15a)
LORD, I put my trust in you no matter what happens.

WORD: Cry out to me and I will hear you.
WORD: I AM your strength and your high tower. I AM your refuge at all times.
WORD: Look to me and I will renew your strength.

Welcome Home Intiative
The Healing Ministry at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center will host a Welcome Home Initiative Monday, October 20 through Wednesday October 22. WHI is a three-day healing retreat for military veterans and spouses of those veterans who have served their country in combat and may be suffering to varying degrees from Post-Traumatic Stress or moral injury and are in need of soul repair. The format of the program helps veterans and spouses understand the hidden impact of combat and provides a safe place for their emotional healing. This essential spiritual and emotional healing is a complement to healing received from psychiatric and social services. Teaching, discussion, and prayer are the major components of the program. The connections and friendships that are formed during these retreats are outstanding and lasting. Participants find equal footing and experience camaraderie regardless of service. There is no charge for a combat veteran or their spouse to attend a Welcome Home Initiative Retreat.
