10/6/2014, #1, 4th Quarter 2014

And he spoke a parable to them: "Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch? (Luke 6:39)
Lord, there is a deep ditch dug for the leaders and teachers of the Episcopal Church and for those who follow them. Have mercy on us.

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. (Luke 6:40)
Jesus, help us to be teachers who teach as you did and still do.

And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother's eye. (Luke 6:41-42)
Holy Spirit, please help us see our "planks" for what they are.

O Israel, return to the LORD your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity; (Hosea 14:1)
LORD, help the Episcopal Church return to you and forsake its iniquity.

Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, "Amen!" Praise the LORD! (Psalm 106:48 )
LORD, we bless you say, "Amen!" to you.

WORD: Show forth my love to others.
WORD: Look to me for guidance and direction.
WORD: Yield yourself to me today.
WORD: Call my people back to me. I will welcome them with open arms.
WORD: Pray for hearts that desire what I desire.
WORD: I continue to uphold you.

Subject: 10/2 Sister Mary Jean

Dear friends,
It is time for a general thanksgiving email. It looks very much like the Lord has given Sister back to us for a time. She had a good night last night, and is highly motivated to regain her muscle tone after so long in the ICU. She asked me if it was all right to postpone her course on the Venerable Bede until January. I spent only a hour with her today. She was too busy with the therapists. Many thanks for your prayers. It is still best to say that she is not ready for visitors. She is still very weak, but e-cards through the Saratoga Hospital would be much appreciated.
