2016 08 10

Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. John 4:6 (NKJV)
Jesus, be with all those who are weary from serving you.

Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." John 4:10 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us know the gift of God and recognize when Jesus speaks to us. Be that living water for us.

The woman said to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?" Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:11-14 (NKJV)
Spring up, O Well, and flood my soul.

"You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews." John 4:22 (NKJV)
Jesus, help us live out our debt to the Jews.

"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24 (NKJV)
Father, help us worship you in Spirit and in truth.

Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am He." John 4:26 (NKJV)
Jesus, reveal yourself to us in the midst of all our sins as you did to the Samaritan woman.

Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. Acts 6:1 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us take to heart the needs of all the widows and orphans in our midst.

Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, "It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word." Acts 6:2-4 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help our leaders keep their primary focus on serving your word and prayer.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them. Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith. Acts 6:5-7 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us set aside men and women to a life of service to your church so that many are brought to conversion.

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3 (NKJV)
Holy Father, help us give godly cousel to one another so that we all may delight in you and your word, and bear fruit in due season.

He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works. Psalm 33:15 (NKJV)
LORD, thank you that you deal with each one of us individually.

A word received: Place your hope and your trust in me.
