2016 11 11

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. James 1:19-20 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help us in this post-election time to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath; for our wrath does not produce your fruit.

Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:19-27 (NKJV)
Jesus, we have seen how filthiness and wickedness and evil speaking have divided this nation; help us receive your word into our hearts and know that our salvation comes only from you.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22 (NKJV)
Father, please help me, help us to be doers of your word. Set us free from self-deception.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. James 1:23-24 (NKJV)
Holy Trinity, One God, help us see ourselves in the mirror of your word and know our true condition. Bring to repentance all those who hold others in contempt.

But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. James 1:25-26 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us to be doers of your word and put a bridle on our tongues.

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. James 1:27 (NKJV)
Jesus, help us accept with meekness the tasks you give us to do and remain unspotted by the world.

A word received: Come with humility to my word.
