2016 12 02 Friday

Then, in the hearing of all the people, He said to His disciples, "Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation." Luke 20:45-47 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, set the church free from those televangelists who promise what they can't deliver in order to gain money.

And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, "Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had." Luke 21:1-4 (NKJV)
Jesus, help us recognize our poverty before you and give out of our poverty as this widow did.

for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 1 Thessalonians 4:2-5 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, set your people from pornography and sexual immorality; and we pray that we may keep our bodies in sanctification and honor.

"Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for the reward of his hands shall be given him. Isaiah 3:10-11 (NKJV)
Father, help us recognize the consequences of our deeds for good or ill.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 107:8-9 (NKJV)
Jesus, please give us thankful hearts.

Then they cry out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet; so He guides them to their desired haven. Psalm 107:28-30 (NKJV)
LORD, I cry out to you: calm my distress, and bring me to the haven of your house.

And He has exalted the horn of His people, the praise of all His saints -- of the children of Israel, a people near to Him. Praise the LORD! Psalm 148:14 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me to be near you at all times and in all places.

A word received: Look to me with the longing of your heart.
