2014 05 04

So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, Luke 5:1 (NKJV)
Jesus, I too long to hear your word.

When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." Luke 5:4 (NKJV)
Jesus, at your word, help me launch out into the deep.

and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men." Luke 5:10 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me set aside fear and become a fisher of men.

So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him. Luke 5:11 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me follow wherever Jesus leads.

But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. Daniel 5:22 (NKJV)
Father, help us learn what you have taught prior generations.

For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding. Psalm 47:7 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me sing God's praises with understanding.

A word received: Find your rest in me -- lay your burdens at my feet.

PRAYER TABLE REPORT -- Saint Ann's of Amsterdam, Monday, April 24 and Monday, May 1, 20-17, 9:45-10:45 a.m. both days on the lawn in front of our church on Division Street. James Bryant and Deacon Alan presiding at His table both days --
SCENES -- Sorry I didn't get this out to you last week, but I was just chasing my tail all week, it seemed. Both tables were held in very good weather; the two days were very different in nature, which is not unusual Every prayer table session is different. Last week about 30 people came and not too many wanted prayer -- just clothing and food we offer. Yesterday, EVERYONE wanted prayer, and nearly all of them were of a very serious nature. One thing we have noticed recently is that we are getting a lot of first-time visitors. They invariably come to the table and ask "I've heard that you pray for people here for problems they have. Is that true?" ... A man and woman came to the table (April 24) and asked, "What is this, some kind of yard sale?" James explained what we are doing -- offering prayer for needs and thanksgivings, free non-perishable food and free clean, used clothing. No obligations. Nothing to sign. The man and woman were amazed.       Many thanks to Kitty Newell and Sue Banfield for donating leftover meals from Sunday's Community Meal. We passed them out to grateful table visitors yesterday. ... Also many thanks to a generous anonymous donor who dropped off a case of Chunky Soup and a case of mac and cheese dinners. THANK YOU!
PRAYER CONCERNS -- Please join us in intercessory prayer for CONSUELA (upcoming eye surgery she is worried about), LISA (for safety and protection), SONDRA (private matter; the Lord knows the details), DARCY (provision for her and her family), ETHEL (healing), ALBERT (a friend of his is in trouble) and MARIE (first-time; serious illness.)
