2017 07 15

Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel." Mark 1:14-15 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, prepare our hearts to face prison and death for the sake of the gospel.

And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then Jesus said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men." They immediately left their nets and followed Him. Mark 1:16-18 (NKJV)
Jesus, help us respond immediately to your call as Simon and Andrew did.

When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him. Mark 1:19-20 (NKJV)
Father, bring this immediacy into our lives.

Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught. Mark 1:21 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me respond immediately to the promptings of your Spirit as you did.

And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Mark 1:22 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help me speak with your authority and not the authority of men.

And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee. Mark 1:28 (NKJV)
Jesus, I pray that your fame will spread through this whole region immediately.

Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him, saying, "You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!" Acts 11:1-3 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, restrain us from imposing rules on one another and on new Christians. Help us trust your work in all our lives.

Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man's house. Acts 11:12 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help us go forward at your word, doubting nothing.

And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning. Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, 'John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' Acts 11:15-16 (NKJV)
LORD, renew in our day the wonders of your Pentecost.

If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?" Acts 11:17 (NKJV)
Jesus, keep us from trying to withstand what you are doing.

Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God." Moreover David said, "The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." And Saul said to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you!" 1 Samuel 17:36-37 (NKJV)
Father, please help us have similar courage when facing those who oppose you.

And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he disdained him; for he was only a youth, ruddy and good-looking. 1 Samuel 17:42 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, help us honor the youth you send forth at your bidding.

O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. Psalm 63:1-2 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, this region is a dry and thirsty land; come and quench our thirst.

A word received: I Am the way, the truth, and the life. Keep looking to me and I will bring you to new life.
