The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Mark 1:1 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, let there be a new beginning of the gospel in my life.

As it is written in the Prophets: "Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You." Mark 1:2 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for the messengers you sent to me to prepare my heart for Jesus.

"The voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.' " Mark 1:3 (NKJV)
Lord, I wandered in the wilderness so long, thank you for finding me.

John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Mark 1:4 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for bringing me to the waters of baptism.

Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. Mark 1:5 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring forth many in our day confessing their sins and seeking a fresh baptism in you.

Now John was clothed with camel's hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. Mark 1:6 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for for all that John endured to make a way for us.

And he preached, saying, "There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. Mark 1:7 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring us to John's humility.

I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." Mark 1:8 (NKJV)
Jesus, baptize us afresh with your Holy Spirit.

It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Mark 1:9 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for your faithfulness.

And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove. Mark 1:10 (NKJV)
Father, let the heavens open for us receive your Holy Spirit.

Then a voice came from heaven, "You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Mark 1:11 (NKJV)
     Beloved Son, come among us.

Immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness. And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to Him. Mark 1:12-13 (NKJV)
Father, strengthen us to resist the temptations that come our way.

A Word Received: Embrace the sufferings I send to you.
