2018 05 16

Please pray for vocations to the Sisters of St. Mary and the Daughters of the King and the healing ministry and the Franciscan Community of the Holy Cross.

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, Ephesians 4:1 (NKJV)
Lord, you have called me; help me walk worthy of that calling.

with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2-3 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me daily live the life of your Spirit.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; Ephesians 4:4 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me contribute to the life of your body.

one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Ephesians 4:5-6 (NKJV)
Jesus, come and suffuse me with your life and your Spirit.

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men." Ephesians 4:7-8 (NKJV)
Father, help me daily use Christ's gift to me.

(Now this, "He ascended"--what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) Ephesians 4:9-10 (NKJV)
Lord, you have plumed the depths of my sin. Thank you for filling me with your presence.

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, Ephesians 4:11-12 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me know and do the work you have set for me to do.

till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; Ephesians 4:13 (NKJV)
Father, bring me to maturity in you.

that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, Ephesians 4:14 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, protect me from deception.

but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ-- from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:15-16 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me speak the truth with love so that Jesus' body is built up. Thank you.

A Word Received: Walk with me today. I will take you by the hand and lead you.

Prayer Table/Montgomery County Correctional Facility Jail Reports, St. Ann's Episcopal Church, May 14th
DCN ALAN and DCN MARYCAROL -- Here's our weekly report on the Monday morning Prayer Table and the Monday evening Services From the Reserved Sacrament at Montgomery County Correctional Facility for Monday, May 14th:
Prayer Table -- I'm afraid I can't speak to how well the table ran this time because I (Alan) was unable to make it. We had a Spectrum technician come to our house at 8 a.m. to fix our messed-up cable (missing many channels), and he stayed for three hours! But I am told that Cheri, Paige, James, Don and even some others made sure that the free food and clothing were distributed as always, and that our neighbors who came were grateful. When I finally got there, I was able to pray for one man (his name is Martin) who was sitting in our sanctuary praying. Our sanctuary is now open parts of each morning for people who want to come in and pray.) Martin asked me to anoint him and pray for peace for himself and for the entire world.
Montgomery County Correctional Facility services -- Anne DeGroff joined us deacons in ministering to 23 inmates -- 19 men and four women. We engaged in some interesting conversations concerning the readings of the day (7th Sunday of Easter.) When told that the gospel reading from John happened at the end of the Last Supper just before Jesus went to the garden and was betrayed, it made quite an impression on the inmates. One man said he is finally understanding in his "old" age (he's only about 35!) that Jesus didn't go to the cross to die and be resurrected just to look like a super hero to others -- He did it for US so that He could take us with Him. We noticed a theme running through the entire evening that inmates, when asking for individual prayer, were praying not for themselves but for family back home and for fellow inmates and their upcoming court dates. The following people asked for prayer for themselves and those indicated: Boyd (and girlfriend Alexia and daughter Elle), Bob (for his daughters(, Joe (for Sara and Ayliah), Eric (for his family and Fort Johnson Fire Company, for Kelly and Felix),Michael, Anthony, Raul, Sam, Robert, Carlos (and Rhonda), Daniel (and 3-month-old nephew Yesnardo who is seriously ill), the Sanders and Ianotti families, William, Kelly.
