Pray for a move of the Holy Spirit at the Diocesan Convention June 8-10 and the General Convention of the Episcopal Church July 5-13 in Austin, Texas.
Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh, put no faith in your own perception; in every course you take, have him in mind; he will see that your paths are smooth. Proverbs 3:5-6 JB
LORD, please help me put my whole trust in you.
Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, "Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread." Matthew 15:1-2 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help us recognize our traditions for what they are and abandom them when they impede the gospel.
Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' " Matthew 15:7-9 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help us repent of hypocrisy in our traditions.
So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding? Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man." Matthew 15:16-20 (NKJV)
Father, please help us examine what comes out of our mouths and cleanse our hearts by your Holy Spirit.
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for adopting me and giving me faith in Jesus Christ.
If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent perversion of justice and righteousness in a province, do not marvel at the matter; for high official watches over high official, and higher officials are over them. Moreover the profit of the land is for all; even the king is served from the field. Ecclesiastes 5:8-9 (NKJV)
LORD, let the high officials of this nation and the oppressors of the poor and those who pervert justice repent
Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! Serve the LORD with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the LORD, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Psalm 100:1-3 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for making me a sheep of your pasture.
A Word Received: Speak as you are spoken to. Listen for my word.
