2018 09 12

Please pray for Bishop Bill and the clergy and laity of this diocese as we cope with the decisions of the Episcopal General Convention.

When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it." John 11:4 (NKJV)
Lord, I pray that all our sicknesses will end in bringing your Father glory.

"But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him." John 11:10 (NKJV)
Jesus, let your light shine in me.

Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him." John 11:14-15 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, thank you for showing me that death is not the end.

Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead. However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. Acts 14:19-20 (NKJV)
Father, please help us have Paul's courage to go back when we have been rejected.

And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God." Acts 14:21-22 (NKJV)
Lord, you have promised tribulations; don't let us be shocked when these things happen.

So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed. Acts 14:23 (NKJV)
Father, raise up elders of your choosing so that your people will be commended to the Lord in whom they have believed.

Have I not wept for him who was in trouble? Has not my soul grieved for the poor? But when I looked for good, evil came to me; and when I waited for light, then came darkness. Job 30:25-26 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help us go through the hard times.

Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy. Psalm 33:3 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me sing that new song and fill my heart with your presence.

The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. Psalm 33:10-11 (NKJV)
LORD, establish your counsel in the place of man's counsel in your church/

He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works. Psalm 33:15 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for dealing with us individually.
