Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, "This Man receives sinners and eats with them." Luke 15:1-2 (NKJV)
Jesus, I want to be one of those who draw near to you and sit at your table. Thank you for receiving me, a sinner.
So He spoke this parable to them, saying: "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' Luke 15:3-6 (NKJV)
Jesus, raise up men and women with shepherds' hearts.
I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:7 (NKJV)
Father, please help us bring you joy by our repentance.
"Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!' Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Luke 15:8-10 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us search for the lost and the least.
Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:15-16 (NKJV)
Jesus, be King and Lord over me.
"Now, therefore," says the LORD, "Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning." Joel 2:12 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help your church return to you with fasting and weeping.
So rend your heart, and not your garments; return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm. Joel 2:13 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, rend our hearts with you love and mercy and righteousness.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. Psalm 4:5 (NKJV)
Father, please help me offer you such a sacrifice; I put my trust in you.
