A Personal Reflection

          A Personal Reflection
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Edmund Burke (1729-1797)
I find that I cannot remain silent about the overt racism of the President and his cronies. Like many American families, mine is a mixture of children and grandchildren born in Canada, Liberia, the Philippines, and Brazil, as well as America. We come in all sorts of colors, races and ethnicities, but we are a family. I owe it to my children, grandchildren and great grandchild to speak out. More than the President’s moral failure, I am appalled by those Republican politicians who remain silent in the face of evil. It is too much like the silence of good people in early 1930s Germany.
For different but equally compelling reasons I am distressed by the leadership of the Democratic Party. They would kill off the innocent unborn - something Kind Herod would have understood and appreciated. I plan to change my party affiliation from Democrat to Independent. As things now stand, I suspect I will be casting a blank Presidential ballot in 2020.
