2019 10 13

And Jesus answered and said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." So he said, "Teacher, say it." "There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?" Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgave more." And He said to him, "You have rightly judged." Luke 7:40-43 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help us recognize our need for forgiveness.

Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." Luke 7:44-47 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help our love for you overcome our sins.

Then He sai,d to her, "Your sins are forgiven." Luke 7:48 (NKJV)
Holy Father, please help us hear Jesus’ words of absolution and forgiveness.

And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace." Luke 7:49-50 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me go forth in your peace.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; Psalm 19:7 (NKJV)
LORD, convert my soul and make me wise.

The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; Psalm 19:8 (NKJV)
Jesus, give me your light to see by.

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. Psalm 19:9 (NKJV)
Father, help me accept your judgments.

Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression. Psalm 19:12-13 (NKJV)
Holy Trinity, One God, cleanse me of my secret faults and presumptuous sin. Thank you.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 (NKJV)
     LORD, guide my words.

A Word Received: Come to me; let me guide your steps.
