2019 10 31

Lord, may the souls of your faithful departed and your faithful present rest in your peace.

"Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. Matthew 13:18-19 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please give us hearing with understanding.

But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. Matthew 13:20-21 (NKJV)
Lord, you know the stony places in my heart and soul; break them up by your Holy Spirit so that I may endure.

Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. Matthew 13:22 (NKJV)
Father, weed out the thorny places in my life that keep me from abiding in your word.

But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." Matthew 13:23 (NKJV)
Holy Trinity, One God, prepare the soil of my heart to receive your word and bear good fruit.

"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!" Revelation 5:12b (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me join in with that vast throng praising Jesus, the Lamb of God.

And I said: "I pray, LORD God of heaven, O great and awesome God, You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and observe Your commandments, Nehemiah 1:5 (NKJV)
LORD, help us walk in your ways.

please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before You now, day and night, for the children of Israel Your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have sinned against You. Both my father's house and I have sinned. Nehemiah 1:6 (NKJV)
Jesus, hear our cries as we pray for our bishop and this diocese.

We have acted very corruptly against You, and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, nor the ordinances which You commanded Your servant Moses. Nehemiah 1:7 (NKJV)
Lord GOD of heaven and earth, we have not kept your commandments; bring us to repentance.

Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations; but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.' Nehemiah 1:8-9 (NKJV)
Father, please help us return to you and your word to us.

A Word Received: Look to me for help in the time of distress.
