2020 02 10

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. John 7:37 (NKJV)
Lord, I come to drink of you.

He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7:38 (NKJV)
Jesus, please flood me with your living water.

But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:39 (NKJV)
Jesus, you have been glorified, fill us anew with your Holy Spirit.

Now some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him. Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why have you not brought Him?" The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this Man!" John 7:44-46 (NKJV)
Jesus, no one has spoken to me as you have. Thank you for changing my heart.

Then the Pharisees answered them, "Are you also deceived? Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed." John 7:47-49 (NKJV)
Father, the leaders in many parts of the church hold Jesus and his words and the words of Scripture in contempt. Have mercy on us.

Remember the prisoners as if chained with them--those who are mistreated--since you yourselves are in the body also. Hebrews 13:3 (NKJV)
O God, who spares when we deserve punishment, and in your wrath remembers mercy; we humbly beseech you, of your goodness, to comfort and succor all prisoners and their families, especially those who are condemned to die. Give them a right understanding of themselves and of your promises; that, trusting wholly in your mercy, they may not place their confidence anywhere but in you. Relieve the distressed, protect the innocent, awaken the guilty; and for as much as you alone bring light out of darkness, and good out of evil, grant to these your servants, that by the power of your Holy Spirit they may be set free from the chains of sin and death, and may be brought to newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (from BCP 1928)

So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" Hebrews 13:6 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, give me this boldness.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, deal with those who claim you have changed.

And Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary." Therefore his name was called Edom. But Jacob said, "Sell me your birthright as of this day." And Esau said, "Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?" Then Jacob said, "Swear to me as of this day." So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright. Genesis 25:30-34 (NKJV)
Father, many are selling their birthright for a mess of theological potage; have mercy on us.

A Word Received: Wait on me; let me guide you through this time of trouble. You need not be afraid.
