1 And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, 2 and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. 3 So He said, "Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; 4 for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had." Luke 21:1-4 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help us recognize our poverty of spirit as we make our offerings to you. Win the victory over our self-satisfaction.
"CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY" & "THINE BE THE GLORY" - DUKE CHAPEL, EASTER 2012
25 For David says concerning Him: 'I foresaw the LORD always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. 26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope. 27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. 28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.' Acts 2:25-28 (NKJV)
Jesus, I live in the hope of the resurrection.
CHRIST IS MADE THE SURE FOUNDATION
29 Why do you kick at My sacrifice and My offering which I have commanded in My dwelling place, and honor your sons more than Me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel My people?' 1 Samuel 2:29 (NKJV)
LORD, help us honor you above everything else.
HYMN 'ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS NAME' (MILES LANE) - DUKE UNIVERSITY CHAPEL
34 Now this shall be a sign to you that will come upon your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die, both of them. 35 Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever. 1 Samuel 2:34-35 (NKJV)
Raise up faithful priests among us who will do all your bidding.
1 Lord, You have been favorable to Your land; You have brought back the captivity of Jacob. 2 You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people; You have covered all their sin. Psalm 85:1-2 (NKJV)
LORD, please bring the Episcopal Church back from captivity and forgive our iniquity.
A Word Received: I AM with you in all your struggles. You are not alone.
