2020 06 26

26 But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. Luke 22:26 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring the leaders of the Episcopal Church to true humility.

1 Then the high priest said, "Are these things so?" 2 And he said, "Brethren and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, 3 and said to him, 'Get out of your country and from your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.' Acts 7:1-3 (NKJV)
Jesus, teach us to tell the salvation story that begins with Adam and Eve and continues even now.

1 Now it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel. 2 The name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah; they were judges in Beersheba. 3 But his sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice. 1 Samuel 8:1-3 (NKJV)
Father, this is what happens when men are raised up who were not called by you.

4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, 5 and said to him, "Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations." 1 Samuel 8:4-5 (NKJV)
You wanted to be their king, but because of Samuel's choice, the people chose another path.

6 But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, "Give us a king to judge us." So Samuel prayed to the LORD. 7 And the LORD said to Samuel, "Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. 8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day--with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods--so they are doing to you also. 9 Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them." 1 Samuel 8:6-9 (NKJV)
Jesus, help your church repent of the bad choices it is making.

23 Therefore He said that He would destroy them, Had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, To turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them. Psalm 106:23 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring forth intercessors who will stand before you in the breach so that we are not destroyed.

29 Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds, And the plague broke out among them. 30 Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, And the plague was stopped. 31 And that was accounted to him for righteousness To all generations forevermore. Psalm 106:29-31 (NKJV)
Thank you, LORD, for raising up Phinehas to save your people from the plague. Raise up such intercessors in our generation to stop the plague of the virus and of heresy.

44 Nevertheless He regarded their affliction, When He heard their cry; 45 And for their sake He remembered His covenant, And relented according to the multitude of His mercies. 46 He also made them to be pitied By all those who carried them away captive. Psalm 106:44-46 (NKJV)
Jesus, your church has been carried away captive. Hear our cry and bring us back to you.

A Word Received: Keep crying out to me for my people, for my lost sheep.
