2020 06 30

1 And Saul was there, giving approval to his death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. ... 4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Acts 8:1...4 (NIV)
Lord, if it is time for the church in this diocese to be scattered, lead us and bless our witness.

13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw. Acts 8:13 (NIV)
Father, help us witness miracles of conversion.

1 Nahash the Ammonite went up and besieged Jabesh Gilead. And all the men of Jabesh said to him, "Make a treaty with us, and we will be subject to you." 2 But Nahash the Ammonite replied, "I will make a treaty with you only on the condition that I gouge out the right eye of every one of you and so bring disgrace on all Israel." 1 Samuel 11:1-2 (NIV)
Jesus, we are being blinded by the false teaching in our culture and in your church.

3 The elders of Jabesh said to him, "Give us seven days so we can send messengers throughout Israel; if no one comes to rescue us, we will surrender to you." 4 When the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul and reported these terms to the people, they all wept aloud. 1 Samuel 11:3-4 (NIV)
Holy Spirit, help us look to our brothers and sisters in the Anglican Communion for aid and comfort.

1 If the LORD had not been on our side-- let Israel say-- 2 if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us, 3 when their anger flared against us, they would have swallowed us alive; 4 the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us, 5 the raging waters would have swept us away. 6 Praise be to the LORD, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. 7 We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler's snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 124:1-8 (NIV)
Jesus, we look to you for your saving help.

1 When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. 2 Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." Psalm 126:1-2 (NIV)
Father, bring this diocese back from captivity.

1 Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. 2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-- for he grants sleep to those he loves. Psalm 127:1-2 (NIV)
Holy Spirit, we look to you to build us up on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone.

A Word Received: Rejoice with me as you sing the songs of Zion.
