2020 12 22

Annunciation by Botticelli

26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!" 29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Luke 1:26-29 (NKJV)
Lord, surprise us with joy as you come into our lives as you did with Mary.

30 Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Luke 1:30 (NKJV)
Holy God, as you move among us, set us free from fear.

31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end." Luke 1:31-33 (NKJV)
Jesus, come and rule and reign in our lives.

34 Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" 35 And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:34-35 (NKJV)
Father, you can do in us through your Holy Spirit what we cannot do by ourselves. Come upon us with the power of your Spirit.

1 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: 2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things-- Titus 2:1-3 (NKJV)
Jesus, help us find wisdom in our elders, from all those who have stood the tests of time.

1 And Hannah prayed and said: "My heart rejoices in the LORD; My horn is exalted in the LORD. I smile at my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation. 1 Samuel 2:1 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us join with Hannah in the joy of our salvation.

5 Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. Psalm 66:5 (NKJV)
LORD, help us see your works among us.

16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, And I will declare what He has done for my soul. Psalm 66:16 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me declare what you have done for my soul.

A Word Received: How have you spent the talents I have given you? Are you hiding them away or are you advancing my kingdom?
