17 But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name." 18 And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. Acts 4:17-18 (NKJV)
Jesus, the national church is trying to frighten us into abandoning the truth of Scripture and the gospel.

19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." Acts 4:19-20 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, whether we are Anglican or Episcopalian, help us continue to speak the things we have seen and heard.

23 And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. 24 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, 25 who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: 'Why did the nations rage, And the people plot vain things? 26 The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the LORD and against His Christ.' Acts 4:23-26 (NKJV)
Father, help us proclaim your Son to all of our concregations.

29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus." 31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:29-31 (NKJV)
And now, Father, look on their threats against the faithful and stretch out your hand with signs and wonders through the name of your holy Servant Jesus.

32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. Acts 4:32 (NKJV)
Jesus, don't let us be blinded by our buildings so that we fear change. Let us do and dare for you.

As Bishop Harold Miller said to the diocesan convention in 2005, we must have integrity - where the inside matches the outside.

17 Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation, 18 and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison. 19 But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, 20 "Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life." Acts 5:17-20 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help our leaders stand in our congregations and speak the words of this new life.

A Word Received: Be brave and do not fear the threats of those who despise the gospel and my word in Scripture.
